Dr Kristian van Mourik is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who specialises in diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of conditions affecting the teeth, jaws, head and neck.

He has the highest level of training and skills in oral surgery, having qualified as a surgeon, a doctor and a dentist.



Dr van Mourik’s 16 years of study and training have been matched by over 10 years of surgical practice.

He gained his dental and medical degrees at the University of Sydney where he was awarded 3    university medals:

  • Dux of dentistry
  • Dean’s list of high achievers
  • Doctor of Medicine post graduate scholarship

Dr van Mourik was selected to complete his 4-year postgraduate oral and maxillofacial surgical training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, one of the two craniofacial centres of excellence in the world.

Dr van Mourik is a natural technician and has gained a reputation for performing complex surgery to the highest technical standard. His meticulous results are often used as case studies in hospital teaching forums.

Dr van Mourik has lectured and published locally and internationally. He keeps abreast of the latest surgical techniques and attends medical conferences regularly.

Subspecialty interests include: orthognathic (jaw) surgery, complex wisdom tooth removal, dental implantology and bone grafting.

FRACDS (OMS)
Once oral and maxillofacial surgeons complete their training, they are awarded the letters FRACDS (OMS). FRACDS stands for Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. OMS stands for Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon.
